Third presentation : Thematic approaches
The fruit of the combined know-how of the Musée du Louvre and DNP (Dai Nippon Printing), the Louvre - DNP Museum Lab is an experimental space dedicated to innovative approaches to mediation in art museums by means of dynamic and imaginative multimedia displays custom-made for each exhibition. For its third presentation, Museum Lab's new mediation offering is based on the themes outlined below.
A spontaneous physical encounter with the artwork
In this new presentation, Museum Lab's aim was to create a spontaneous "physical" learning experience from the moment that visitors set foot into the exhibition space. Unobtrusive devices and systems allow visitors to move spontaneously and without hindrance, with audio and visual displays being triggered by their movements.
A scenography enveloping visitors in the universe presented
Museum Lab has sought to provide a harmonious ensemble of scenographic design and a quality soundtrack guide admirably narrated by Mr. Jean Habert, curator at the Musée du Louvre. The overall effect immerses visitors completely into the universe presented.
Intuitive interfaces allow visitors to focus fully on the exhibition contents
Systems that require no complex manipulation or attention allow visitors to focus more fully on the multimedia contents themselves. In this way, Museum Lab has looked to facilitate things for visitors. There are no buttons to press or icons to click. Visitors need only make the most natural and intuitive of movements: holding out a hand, taking a few steps, or staring at an image.
